Die Hard and Bruce Willis returned in the year 2007. The film was released titled Live Free or Die Hard in the US and Die Hard 4.0 outside North America. The first Die Hard that came in 1988 still commands some rave reviews and fond memories and has a strong fan base that awaited Die hard 4 for some years. The production of the film was stalled due to 9/11 attacks in the US. Bruce Willis as detective John McClane is the chief protagonist with supporting cast including, Justin Long, Timothy Olyphant, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Maggie Q. The film fared pretty well on the awards podium winning the best director, best actor, best cinematography and best visual effects at the 11th Golden Star Awards.
Being a new age movie, the story line moves away from blasting Boeings and buildings as in the previous Die Hard movies. This one deals with a major cyber terrorist threat on US. A woman named Mai assigns a group of hackers to secretly write some codes and hand it over to her. They have no idea where the codes will be used. Mai's boss and lover, Thomas Gabriel initiates the plots. The very first step in their plan is to assassin all the hackers to leave no trace behind. While all but one hacker are killed. This guys Mathew 'Matt' Farrell is saved by John McClane who arrives at the right place on the right time. As Matt holds the key to the designed codes he must be saved at all costs.
While McClane is safeguarding Matt, Gabriel starts his operations by first sabotaging traffic light systems and stock market digital controls.
Rest of films is a fine tussle between Gabriel and John McClane. While they play cat and mouse, Matt works in the background to decode Gabriels stuff. John McClane handles the battles and Matt works on the computer. It's a fast a gripping story which will not give a you breather until the end.
