Steve Martin is a still an iconic comedian even though his last major hit was ten years ago (Bowfinger). If you have seen the original Pink Panther you'd be pardoned if you thought that 2006 Pink Panther featuring Steve Martin needed something extra. Maybe Steve was a bit nervous, maybe the plot and story needed some facelift for the modern era. Pink Panther 2 solves that issue. We have a whole lot of acting team collected from around the world. Emily Mortimer and Jean Reno are back with Steve. John Cleese has taken Kevin Kline's role as Inspector Dreyfus, and Alfred Molina and Andy Garcia have been pitted in as international investigators.
Bollywood's famous actor and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai has been cast as a diamond expert Sonia. She lends that glamorous touch as well subtle touch to the cast. Lily Tomlin is an etiquette teacher and Jeremy Irons comes in as a suspected criminal. With this star cast Pink Panther 2 is surely a watch able movie.
The story starts with Martin working as a parking meter officer. Remember he was awarded the Medal of Honor for finding the stolen Pink Panther. So even though Inspector Dreyfus sent him out of the way to parking lot, Clouseau is asked back when the diamond is stolen again along with artefacts from Japan, England and Italy.
A Dream Team is formed to regain the diamond and the artifacts. There's a Brit (Molina), an Italian (Garcia) and a Japanese whiz kid (Yuki Matsuzaki), all of them exasperated by Clouseau's ego and clumsiness. Together they go on a globe trail to find the stolen stuff.
A funny and entertaining film sure to keep you engaged.
