17 Again, directed by Burr Steers follows a 17 years old teenager, who had two 17th birthdays in his life.
The story begins in 1989, where a great high school basketball player Mike O'Donnell (Zac Efron) is about to play his final game and get a college scholarship. But instead of going in to college, Mike chooses to do the "right thing" and marry his pregnant girlfriend Scarlett (Allison Miller). Twenty years later, Mike (Mathew Perry) is a pharmaceutical salesman and he is extremely disappointed with his life. Every time when something goes wrong for him, he blames his family for that, saying that if he hadn't stopped playing basketball, his life would be great. One day Mike meets a strange janitor, who happens to be his spirit guide. The next day Mike wakes up as a 17 years old teen. He gets a chance to change his life and start everything from the beginning. Assisted by his best friend Ned - a nerdy millionaire that still doesn't know how to ask a woman out on a date, Mike again becomes a student in a high school. In school he learns that he has been a bad father. His daughter Maggie is in a relationship with a psychopathic jackass and his son Alex is a punching bag in the school. So, Mike decides to help his kids. Also, he now has a chance to be near Scarlett (Leslie Mann), without her knowing about it.
The best character in the movie is probably Ned Gold. Thomas Lennon did a great job playing this role. His attempts of seducing the school principal are hilarious. Every scene with Ned is great and exciting. Other characters are also nice and interesting to watch.
I didn't notice many drawbacks in the movie and I think that the fans of the High School Musical will like this movie as well.
