Avatar: The War of the Worlds

This movie is a science fiction, written and directed by James Cameron of the Terminator fame. It depicts events in the future. Jake (Sam Worthington), a war veteran suffer from paraplegia, is taken to another planet, Pandora. Pandora is an biologically advanced planet inhabited by a half-humanoid race called Na’vi. Jake is given a Na’vi Avatar, where he can walk and run. In the distant world of Pandora, Jake has a mission to learn the language and culture of the Na’vi and befriend them. However, the story takes an ugly turn when Jake finds out that his corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge has the intentions of capturing one of the Na’vi settlements in order to mine for the precious material scattered in the soils of Pandora.

While Jake develops an attachment with the native tribe and falls in love with his beautiful alien teacher Neytiri, the restless Colonel, puts down his foot to capture the settlement. Jake is forced to take a stand against his very own race, and fights for the fate of Pandora, in the epic battle that follows.

The special effects and visualization of the movie is mind blowing. The depiction of the delectable planet Pandora is very beautiful and divine. The movie was released in 2D as well as 3D. The story is just the opposite of the conventional alien-invade-earth plot. The imagination put behind the mystic Pandora planet and the humanoids of the Na’vi race are quite intelligent and innovative. The planet is a delight.

On December 10, 2009, Avatar premiered in London and released worldwide between December 16 and 18. The official estimation of the budget of this film is USD237 million. The makers of the movie have commented that they have a plot for its sequel in mind.
